New Build Boats - Uploading Information to the Dashboard

When you have been approved to sell a particular range of new build boats and we have a signed agreement between Boatshed and the New Build Manufacturer, we can upgrade your dashboard and you can start building your new build advert.

First of all you need to set up the New Build Brand. More information about how to do this can be found in the document New Build Boats - Setting up a New Build Brand.

New Build Boats are advertised similarly to our Used Boats listings, PLUS include more specialised features for New Build Boats.

IMPORTANT It is vital to keep updating the content on the New Build Boat listings continuously to encourage interest from customers. We are recommending 2-3 pieces of new content (this can be images, videos, information) per month after initially making the listing live.

Getting started:

In your Boatshed dashboard download the  NEW BUILD - Schedule 2 - Details and Inventory document from your documents area, this will guide you through the information you need to gather for the NEW BUILD INFORMATION & INVENTORY.

Photographing the boat:

When photographing a New Build Boat, make every photo look like a brochure image. Fisheye lenses can work really well for cockpit photo, saloon and master bedroom. No duplicate shots and work through the template. We have made a simplified template for the New Build Boat listing.

IMPORTANT Adding photos for a New Build Boat can be a bit of a challenge, especially if you only have photos from the build process, or from a completed boat. If photos don't fit easily into our normal categories, stick to labelling them “interior” and “exterior”. You DO NOT need to use captions.

Adding the boat:

Click on Manage>Add a Boat in the dashboard and select the listing type 'new'

Complete all the details as usual, using “Built to Order” as a strapline if suitable and include Broker’s comments (short and sweet, with a call to action!)

IMPORTANT Leave “Owner FAQs” empty as these boats are New Build Boats…this section won’t appear in the listing, once left blank.

When adding a new build, a new section of the dashboard will appear as shown below:

The extra areas to complete are:

  1. Lifestyle & Use
  2. Unique Features
  3. Design & Build
  4. Price & Process

The following guidelines show the information to include and how to present it, these details should be taken from the NEW BUILD - Schedule 2 - Details and Inventory.  To make it easy there is “grey text” in the dashboard to make it easy to follow and avoid repetition of information.

The Meet the builder video and any audio material should be added as content when you create the brand (see Setting up a NEW BUILD BRAND).

Images should be added to each of the following four sections, and guidelines for what type of images are given on the dashboard as well. Ensure to choose the right category, and order the images within each category.

IMPORTANT Do not use the manufacturer’s name in your descriptions as we want to encourage customers to go through our own contacts, and not directly go to the builders.

Special Offers:

In the Dashboard you have an area to add Special Offers for boat shows or new finance deals.

IMPORTANT This area is text only and if you add a special offer you must remember to remove it when the offer finishes.

1. Lifestyle & Use:

Write a maximum of four rows about who the target customer is for this boat and explain what the boat is best used for. Include size (length, cabins and/or seats), how many people can comfortably fit onboard the boat, speed, if it’s trailable etc.

Example text: This 35ft yacht is affordable, sleek in its design and compromises a contemporary interior design. Available in the UK since 2021 this yacht provides the perfect family cruiser in either a 2 or 3 cabin layout.

Photographs: Only choose your most professional looking photographs and limit it to 4 OR 8 images. Show lifestyle features of the boat with people enjoying/using the boat if possible. Include images of the boat being utilised on the water, launch and recovery (if trailerable) and people enjoying themselves on and around the boat.

2. Unique Features:

Write a maximum of four rows about the boat’s key features and unique design details. Is it customizable, does it have any special equipment, what makes this boat special?

Example text: A full range of options are available for this boat, with full customization available. Our standard fit out includes live bait holding tank and rod holders. With its unique stepped hull this vessel allows for passive ventilation which decreases wetted surface areas and increases fuel efficiency up to 10-15% when planing.

Photographs: Only choose your most professional looking photographs and limit it to 4 OR 8 images. Show the unique features of the boat and key details and equipment.

3. Design & Build:

Write a maximum of four lines about the objectives of the Brand and this particular model, who the designer is and where the manufacturer is located.

Example text: Constantly innovating through both design and manufacturer, the S35 is designed by Sergio Luploi and comes with Italian flair and styling. Manufactured in Poland, which has a long heritage of boat building, these boats have been developing over the last 30 years.

Photographs: Only choose your most professional looking photographs and limit it to 4 OR 8 images. Include factory images and boats being built by master craftsmen. Include design drawings and specifications. Most factories are untidy so when you take photos get close-ups of technicians working on the boats.

4. Price & Process:

Write a maximum of four lines about the standard specifications and upgrades available. Explain the buying process and delivery logistics, as well as the warranty and after sales support available by the manufacturer.

Example text: Prices for the S35 start at £96,000 inc. VAT delivered to Lowestoft, Suffolk. A full range of upgrades are available allowing you to build the boat to meet your exact requirements. Our experienced team will work with you and the factory to put together the right, bespoke package for you.

Documents: Include price lists, build timelines, ordering guidelines and detailed specification sheets. It is really important to use your own letterhead and not the manufacturers, as you need to work on the leads before handing them over to the manufacturer for the sale.

FINAL CHECKS:

  • Meet the builder video added under the brand
  • The new build boat is visible on all Boatshed brands (associate to Sub Boatshed Brokers in brands and models)
  • Email alerts have been set up (this is in brands and models)
  • All photos are clear and the listing has as much detail as possible

IMPORTANT Alert Support when you are ready to go live, they will quality check and activate the boat.
