EMAIL - Setting up your new Gmail Boatshed Email Account

At Boatshed we use Gmail for all of our email accounts, there are two ways to set up your account and this will depend if you already have your own personal Gmail account. The instructions are below with a screen shot of each stage at the bottom of the document:

Setting up your Email account if you DON'T already have a Gmail account:

Go to www.google.com and click on GMAIL in the top right hand corner (we suggest using Google Chrome as your browser)
Then click on SIGN IN, in the top right hand corner
Enter the email address that has been provided to you and then click NEXT
Copy and paste the password that has been provided to you (this ensures you enter the correct password) then click NEXT
Welcome to your new account - click ACCEPT
Choose a new password and enter into the boxes click CHANGE PASSWORD
It will ask you to set up two step verification (all Boatshed users need to set this up) - click ENROL NOW
Enter your password (this will be your new password you have just chosen) click NEXT
Enter your telephone number for the two step verification (we recommend using your mobile number)
Select how you would like to receive the codes either text or phone call click NEXT
A verification code will be sent to your phone number as a test
Enter the code and click NEXT
You'll then be asked to turn on 2 step verification click TURN ON
You can then choose if you would like to set up further security verification
Once you are happy with your security selection go back to www.google.com
Click on GMAIL in the top right hand corner and this will open your Gmail inbox
Click on the SETTING COG in the top right hand corner
Click on SEE ALL SETTINGS
Scroll down about half way to signatures
Click on CREATE NEW
Enter a name for your signature (you can just type signature)
Add your Boatshed signature (click here for the template)
Under signature defaults choose the option to display your signature on new and forwarded emails
Click SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the page
You are now ready to start sending emails!!!

Setting up your Email account if you DO already have a Gmail account:

Go to www.google.com and sign into your personal Gmail account
Click on your profile photo in the top right hand corner of the screen
Click on ADD ANOTHER ACCOUNT
Enter the email address that has been provided to you and then click NEXT
Copy and paste the password that has been provided to you (this ensures you enter the correct password) then click NEXT
Welcome to your new account - click ACCEPT
Choose a new password and enter into the boxes click CHANGE PASSWORD

You are now ready to start sending emails!!

It is important to set up a Google authenticator as the 2 step codes are only 1 time use and an authenticator replaces the need for these.

iPhone Setup

Install the Google Authenticator app via the App Store, or this link: http://appstore.com/googleauthenticator

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app. Tap Menu>Settings>your account>Manage your Google Account. If you don't use Gmail, go to myaccount.google.com.
At the top, tap Security.
Under "Signing in to Google," tap 2-Step Verification.
Under "Set up alternative second step," find "Authenticator app" and tap Set up.
Follow the steps on the screen.
To verify it's working, get a code from your Authenticator app. Enter it in your settings.

Android Setup:

Install the Google Authenticator app via the Google Play Store, or this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2

On your Android phone or tablet, open your device's Settings app>Google>Google Account.
At the top, tap Security.
Under "Signing in to Google," tap 2-Step Verification. You might need to sign in.
Under "Set up alternative second step," find "Authenticator app" and tap Set up.
Follow the steps on the screen.
To verify it's working, get a code from your Authenticator app. Enter it in your settings.
