DASHBOARD - Handling Refer a Boat Enquiries

Boatshed Refer enquiries are handled in a similar way to a normal listing enquiry.

Remember if the enquiry is a referral, the person who has referred the boat will be entitled to a 20% share of the commission once the boat sells (terms and conditions apply)

When a customer completes a ‘Boatshed Refer’ form on the website, HQ will receive the details and then assign to the relevant brokerage.

At this point the customer who has referred the boat will receive an email saying someone has used their Unique Referral Link and Boatshed have received the enquiry AND the boat owner will receive an email letting them know the Boatshed Broker will be in touch.   NB: If the boat is out of area the referrer will receive an email saying we are unable to list the boat

As the broker you will receive a notification in two ways:

By Email:
The email will provide you with the type of boat that is for sale and it will also state that the boat has been referred.  When you click on the link in the email it will take you to the listing enquiry section of the dashboard.

In the Dashboard:
The number of enquiries you have open will show in the menu on the left hand side of the screen and any new enquiries will be shown under the notifications widget on the dashboard.  Click on listing enquiries which will enable you to process the referred boat.

You will be able to see the boat has been referred as this will be mentioned under the persons name.  Remember the person who has referred the boat is entitled to up to a 20% share of the commission once the boat sells.  If you are not happy to accept the referral then click on decline and enter your reason in the box.  Once you accept the enquiry you are agreeing to pay the referrer a share of the commission when the boat sells.

When you accept the enquiry, the customer who has referred the boat will receive an email saying the Boatshed Broker has accepted the referral.

When you view the enquiry you'll be able to see who referred the boat.

  • Use the notes section on the right hand side to make notes, when you have spoken with the customer or have arranged to meet them, when contracts have been signed etc.. when you add a note it will automatically add the date and time
  • Use the 'follow up enquiry on' function to receive reminders when action is due to be taken on a listing enquiry.  If you do not select a date you will receive an email each day as a reminder

BOAT LISTED:
Once you are ready to list the boat this can be done by clicking on the 'list boat' button.  This will take you to the add a boat page and the boat owners details will automatically be entered onto the listing.  You can continue to add the boat details as normal.  When the boat is added it will automatically mark the listing enquiry as 'listed'

If you have added the boat in the normal way (manage>boats>add a boat) then you need to go back to the enquiries section and mark the boat as already listed.  When you click on the button you will be required to add the Boatshed reference number and the enquiry will be changed to listed.

Once the boat has been activated and you have marked it as listed in listing enquiries, it will trigger an email to the referrer confirming the boat has been listed. It will include a link to the boat advert.   NB: If you do not confirm it has been listed the referrer will not receive an email

The details of the referrer will be logged in the dashboard under the legal and viewing section of the dashboard as shown below:

Sell the boat!!

When the boat has been sold the referrer will receive an email letting them know they are due a share of the commission.

The HQ team will check each boat that is sold to see if there is a match for a referral. If there is a match they will send you an email as a prompt to get in touch with the referrer with the details.
It is vital we pay the referrer promptly as we would like them to refer more boats to us, after all it's all about Listings! Listings! Listings!

Don't forget you can also refer boats that aren't in your area and you could earn up to 20% share of the commission.
